In order to prevent these effects, special additives are added to modify the film surface so that the water droplets are spread into a continuous, invisible water layer.

Thermal additives and IR
During the day, the greenhouse air heats up. At night, when the outside temperature cools down, with regular cover, there is a loss of heat from the greenhouse by radiation towards the outside, and the greenhouse temperature is reduced by re-emitting radiation in the infrared range. To prevent this radiation loss, special additives are incorporated within the greenhouse plastic film. These additives block the IR radiation and help maintain the temperature in the greenhouse, preventing frost and low-temperature damage.

Light Diffusion
Direct sunlight (undiffused light) can cause a “shadow” effect and “sunburns”. Light diffusing additives will scatter the direct light, thereby preventing the shadow effect and sunburns. The light diffusion increases the photosynthetic efficiency by providing more homogeneous light from all directions. This is advantageous to crops with self-shading characteristics, such as cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, roses and others. The film is suitable for an area with high radiation.
